What is the 5-Day Workout Challenge?

The 5-day workout challenge is a series of daily micro-exercises designed for busy dads.

Each day has five mini-challenges integrated into normal routines.

You don’t need extra equipment (other than maybe a child, laundry basket, shopping bags!) long time slots, or a gym.

It’s perfect for dads who want to:

• Reignite that spark for fitness

• Improve strength, energy and confidence

• Stay active without neglecting family duties

Introduction

Here's my Story, stay with me!

As a dad, I always loved sports and staying active whether it was on the football field, cricket pitch, or in the gym. But after focusing on work and family (which takes up most of my time!), my fitness/health took a back seat. I felt sluggish and soft, there was guilt about taking time for myself (1.5hrs in gym + commute etc after a long day at work too).

I had been through many different types of gym memberships with pay as you go etc, but they conflicted with family and household responsibilities, I couldn’t keep ditching those for the ones at home to do for me.

I initially resisted short, at-home workouts because I thought they wouldn’t make a difference, having to clean up a space to workout, moving kids out the way so I could workout and even change to more suitable attire before even starting.

One day whilst making a cup of tea, filled the kettle and stuck it on, I decided to lean on the kitchen worktop and thought I wonder how many press ups I can do until the kettle boils, it was tougher than I thought. But got me thinking that little workouts whilst doing daily tasks could be what I need to get me going again and here we are!

The 5-day workout was now a thing for me.

As easy as it sounds, simple exercises within daily tasks I already did like...

• Kitchen-counter press-ups whilst the kettle boiled.

• Grabbing one of my children and see how many squats I could do until they wriggled away!

• Or lunges up the stairs with the clean laundry

These all gave me quick wins as well as feeling the effect. I felt proud, energized, and still present for my family whilst actually feeling like I had done something meaningful as well as ticking off daily tasks we all have.

Running around with the kids and joining in their hobbies felt easier and less stress on my body and mind. Small, consistent actions made me feel healthier without sacrificing time or guilt.
